About Amsterdam Wiechmann

Amsterdam Wiechmann was one of the first medium-sized hotels on central Amsterdam’s main canal over 70 years ago. The location offers 37 rooms, including singles, doubles, twins, and family rooms.

Every guest room offers a private, en suite bathroom with either bath or shower/bath configurations, a flatscreen television, free Wi-Fi, direct dial telephone, and wall safe. Some come with canal views.

Breakfast is included, as is a daily cleaning service.

While there is a breakfast room, there is not a full-scale, dedicated on-site restaurant. A 15-minute walk to Dam Square provides guests with a number of options, however.

Amsterdam Wiechmann is only minutes from the Anne Frank House, Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum, and Artis Zoo. Dam Square and Madame Tussauds is only a 15-minute walk.

Negative Reviews

No lift, steep stairs

Getting around this location may prove a hassle, especially for the elderly The hotel does not offer a lift, and what’s more, the stairs are steep Dutch stairs and are not exactly designed for ease of use Reports suggest they are narrow and can prove to be a chore to navigate However, the staff are more than happy to assist with luggage.

Small single rooms

A number of guests have complained that the single guest rooms at this establishment are too small for their liking, making luggage storage and getting ready in the mornings a bit more of a hassle than it should be.

Dated decor

Amsterdam Wiechmann has been on Amsterdam’s main canal for over 70 years Taking this into account, it is perhaps not surprising that a number of guests feel the decor is looking dated and a little worn out.
