About The Exchange

This independent boutique hotel is located on Amsterdam's famed Damrak, just four-minutes' walk from Dam Square. Designed with voguish style in mind, The Exchange's unique guest rooms are 'dressed like models' by young fashion designers from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI).

The individually decorated guest rooms are graded from one to five stars according to size, amenities, views and location. All rooms come with an en-suite shower, flat-screen TV, hairdryer, and safe.

Guests can relax – and even make use of sewing machines - in the common area on the second floor. Reception is open 24-hours and provides ticket & tour booking assistance. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout.

All-day breakfasts and a smorgasbord of light snacks and drinks (including home-made apple pies and locally brewed beer) are proffered at the hotel's 'STOCK' café.

The Red Light District, Nieuwmarkt Square and Centraal Station are all just five-minutes' walk from The Exchange.

Positive Reviews

Great central location

The hotel's Damrak location ensures most of the city's chief sights and attractions are within comfortable strolling distance What's more, Centraal Station; with its myriad train, tram and metro connections is just a brief stroll from the hotel.

Funky rooms are a breath of fresh air

Although they might not be to everyone's taste, the guest rooms designed and decorated by the AMFI students look and feel completely different to any other hotel accommodations you're likely to stay in Honestly, it feels like you're staying in the pages of a fashion student's sketch book!

Beds are super-comfy

The Exchange's guest rooms are blessed with the kind of beds which you feel like you can just melt into straight away Absolutely dreamy.

Negative Reviews

Breakfast time can get busy at the STOCK café

The hotel's on-site café is not just reserved for guest use, it's also open to the general public too Because of this, the place often gets pretty packed out in the mornings Get up early if you want to be sure of a seat.

Rooms overlooking the Damrak suffer with noise

Full of cafés, bars, shops, restaurants, pubs and clubs, the Damrak is one of Amsterdam's busiest - and therefore noisiest – thoroughfares Unfortunately, the rooms overlooking this highway of hustle and bustle are not soundproofed If you're a light sleeper then skip the 'room with a view ' option and plum for something to the rear of the hotel instead.

One-star rooms are small

Very small, in fact If you want even a vague modicum of space then do yourself a favour and book something around the three-star mark or above.
