Positive Reviews

Great base for walkers

Along with perennial sightseeing favourites like Franklin Wharf, Battery Point and Salamanca Place, you'll find everything from Constitution Dock and the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery and the Museum of Old and New Art within very easy striking distance of this hotel. Super-convenient.

Some splendid views on offer

Opt for a guest room on one of the upper floors and chances are you'll be rewarded with a sweeping view of the city, the River Derwent or even - if you're lucky - Mount Wellington. Splendid.

Friendly reception team do a fine job

A great many guests have been impressed by the reception team's almost effortless ability to get things done very quickly while all the while remaining cordial and obliging to any and all guests making requests of them. Fine customer service skills on display here.

Negative Reviews

Guest bathrooms are very small indeed

How small? Well, put it this way: you have to sit side-saddle on the toilet whenever you want to shut the door, plus it's almost impossible to wash your bottom half (if you're an adult) in the shower as the stall is too compact to bend down in.

Breakfast isn't the best

Many guests have found themselves rather under-whelmed by the quality and quantity of the breakfast buffet (which costs extra) provided here. Happily, there are a glut of cafes and restaurants along Harrington Street proffering decent morning meal options.

You'll probably end up paying for Wi-Fi

The hotel provides visitors with a token gesture allowance (100MB) of free Wi-Fi per 24 hours, per room. If you want to use it after that (and let's face it, you will) then you'll need to pay a not-so-modest amount of cash each subsequent day for the privilege.
