A glamorous, upmarket hotel, The Yama occupies a secluded location on the edge of the Kata resort district, but it’s just a five-minute drive to the main beach.

Each air-conditioned room is decorated in a sleek, contemporary style with a furnished balcony. Minibars and tea/coffee makers are provided, along with a bathrobe and slippers.

Distance from central Kata.

If you're looking for complete seclusion, then you won't have an issue with the location, but for many guests, the distance from the buzz of central Kata is a bit of an annoyance. Shuttles only run three times a day, so hiring your own car or motorcycle is recommended for getting out and about easily.

Queues at breakfast.

Some guests are left underwhelmed by the breakfast experience, expecting more of a hotel of this standard. You might find the options a bit limited, and according to guests, the breakfast bar can get very busy, so you might be queueing for a while.

High restaurant prices.
