Positive Reviews

OK rooms

Rooms are quite spacious, clean and well maintained. The air-con works well, which is a major plus. Some rooms have unexpectedly impressive views, including some stunning ones of Mount Kinabalu.

Excellent staff

Members of staff are pleasant, friendly and eager to assist.

Mama Mia … there’s a Mamak!

Mamak is an award-winning Malaysian restaurant. The popularity is spreading quickly with fame based on the dishes originally served from the roadside stalls in Kuala Lumpur. You are in luck because there is one of these restaurants within easy reach of the hotel.

Negative Reviews

Depressingly weak water

Water pressure is poor so there is very little hot water and sometimes no water at all. The lack of window space, or even none at all, results in a dark and depressing cell-like room.

The cockroaches win the day

In the event of a visit to the room by the unwelcome Cockroach family – it can happen – you can’t contact reception because the telephone doesn't work. A visit to reception in person is a waste of time and results in no action being taken.

Parking and other disappointments

There is no assistance in carrying luggage. This is a pain but possibly the service shouldn’t be expected in a budget hotel of this type. Also – and related to the low cost of staying here, there is no refrigerator. Consequently, any food that’s left out is seen by legions of ants as an excuse to party! Parking is very limited and Wi-Fi only really works in the busy reception area. There are occasional noisy events that are staged to the rear of the hotel. These don’t take place every night, but when they do occur, the noise can be disturbing.
