About YHA Oxford

Close to the railway station, city centre and Thames, the modern YHA Oxford has many welcoming features.

There are several ground floor rooms with most being at 1st and 2nd floor level.  There are over two hundred beds in total, including small rooms for the private use of groups.

Impressive facilities at YHA Oxford include: 24-hour cafe, restaurant, (self catering) kitchen, laundry, library and luggage room for storage. Free Wi-Fi in the communal areas, a secure bicycle shed and a sunny rear garden, are also popular features.

Beers, wines and spirits are available daily, as is the restaurant, offering choices of hot and cold dishes. The cafe is open 24-hours.

With more tourist attractions than ‘dreaming spires, it’s always worth taking the handy tourist bus to get a snap shot view of the city.  Also,  Blenheim Palace – Churchill’s birthplace - is a few miles away.

Positive Reviews

Friendly staff really make the difference

Strangers to any city rely upon help and assistance from locals to find their way round. Staff here couldn’t do more and it’s all undertaken with patience and care. Let’s face it, there must be countless other pressures with which to occupy themselves!

Handy left luggage facility

Handy for backpackers and all guests arriving early, you can leave luggage here and start exploring Oxford prior to returning for check in.

A platform view of Yha Oxford

The station is only a minute away and you can see the hostel from the train. It gets a bit more complicated after that because of a shortage of signs, but you’ll soon find it. Re-reassuringly, the station is very close to the city centre and to shops and restaurants of all descriptions.

Appetizing dining areas

Really attractive, the scene is set for wholesome meals, well presented and with little wallet pressure!

Negative Reviews

Cold comfort rooms

Possibly a glitch in the heating system but rooms can be really cold.

Time to say 'ta-ta' to the tat

What a letdown the rooms are. Everything is old and worn and things like messy carpets and bed covers, actually smell of damp and decay. Inexcusable, though, is dirty showers and generally, the rooms don’t mirror at all, the expectation that is expected on arrival in the comparatively glitzy reception areas.

Check out that check out time!

You've made friends, had a great stay and an even greater, later than usual, last night in your now favourite Oxford haunts. However, in the cold light of day, reality strikes in the form of 10 am checkout! They are pushing it a bit; getting you out at this early hour!
