About Rosie the Riveter - World War II Home Front National Historical Park

The Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park in Richmond is not a park in the traditional sense. Rather it consists of a range of local attractions administered (but not owned) by the National Park Service. Its purpose is to focus on how the "home front" in the United States responded to the challenges presented by World War II.

Elements of the park include the Rosie the Riverter Memorial (honoring women who worked in the shipyards), the Ford Richmond Plant (which assembled military vehicles), and the Richmond Shipyards (operated by Kaiser to assemble the Victory and Liberty fleets). A World War II-era worker housing project and a field hospital are also among the exhibits.

Given the diverse and non-contiguous nature of the park, visitors are advised to contact the Visitor Information staff directly for details on hours of operation and fee structures.
